ABOUT CAMBIE HOUSES

Cambie is actually both a street and a neighbourhood, and is a lengthy passageway through Vancouver that offers many types of residences. Stretching the entirety of Cambie Street from Broadway to Marine Drive, with Oak Street to the west and Ontario Street to the east, West 16th to the north and 41st Avenue to the south. From condos and townhouses, to traditional single-family homes, Cambie Street delivers a lot of residential opportunities for investors and homebuyers alike.

The Livability of Cambie

Cambie Street is filled with shopping options – such as City Square along Cambie and 12th, as well as dining opportunities – such as BierCraft Bistro, or for the more ethnic cuisine – Hot Pot House …and everything in-between.

As well, the area is largely known for the amazing medical facilities there, including The Children’s Hospital, as well as the BC Women’s Hospital – among others.

Various entertainment and parks can also be found along the Cambie Street corridor, as well as easy access to the Skytrain for outlying options. It is as diverse as it is traditional, offering the aforementioned variety of homes in which to choose from for purchase, and well as ideal city-dwellers lifestyle options.

The History of Cambie

Cambie Street is rich in history; named after Henry Cambie – an engineer from the Canadian Pacific Railway, and was a gift thanks to a land grant that was extended back in the 1800s.

Initial settlers arrives in 1874 and claimed 65 hectares of pasture land, which is now largely Douglas Park situated along South Cambie, and once the railroad came through the region in 1910, Chinese settlers were able to begin accessing the area and farming it.

Cambie continues to be a growing community and thriving real estate investment opportunity, rich in history and filled with an endless future.

The Future of Cambie

Although slow to become the bustling community it is today, the 1940’s saw Cambie Street increasing in residential and commercial properties, much of which you can still find along South Cambie; including the RCMP training site on Heather Street.

The future of Cambie is ever-expanding, sitting just on the edge of Downtown Vancouver and offering commuting opportunities through the Skytrain the runs from Broadway and Cambie, it offers something for everyone, including real estate potential for foreign investors and locals alike.
