Killarney is a beautiful neighbourhood at the most eastern end of East Vancouver

Unless you live in the surrounding areas, Killarney may not be a neighbourhood you’re familiar with in Vancouver. As one of the last areas to be developed in the far-reaching suburbs of Vancouver it runs from 41 st Street to 54 th Street and from Argyle Street to Boundary Road. Killarney offers beautiful single-family homes throughout the area that sit on larger than average plots of land, and show beautifully!

The Livability of Killarney

Killarney not only offers beautiful homes and spacious land size, but beautiful parks also. Although Central Park technically part of the City of Burnaby, it is still in the Killarney east side community and provides pathways, ponds, a pitch and putt, a stadium and great views for all the Killarney homes in the area. In addition, within close distance to Killarney are easily accessible shopping conveniences along Kingsway – including: Safeway, a BC Liquor Store and various locally owned shops and restaurants too. Not to mention, Metrotown is close by, giving locals the ability to browse through one of the largest shopping malls in all of Canada!

The History of Killarney

The Surveyor of the British Army – William Rowling, became the proud owner of the southern Killarney region as part of a land grant many years ago, all as an aim to develop the area into a desirable community. As Vancouver grew, so too did the need for housing, which didn’t start in this area until around 1868 when people began to farm the land. Farmhouses from as far back as the 1920s still grace the land today, as does abundant rainforest growth and natural beauty that simply doesn’t fade with time.

The Future of Killarney

As such a newly developed region of Vancouver, Killarney still has room for more development, making it an ideal investment choice for those looking to live on the outskirts of the city on more spacious plots of land. As well, with the community of Fraserlands also recently developed and running right along the neighbourhood of Killarney, there are a variety of housing options for all walks of life. Whether you are a single professional and first time buyer, or a family looking for your next house to call home – I’m here to help, and look forward to showing you real estate for sale in Killarney at your convenience!

Today East Van is home to all walks of life, and offers everything from opulent to afforable, modern to remodeled, and spacious to quaint. East Vancouver is bordered to the north by the Burrard Inlet, with the Fraser River to the south, and the city of Burnaby to the east. In addition, the community of East Van is divided by Main Street on the West Side of Vancouver, spanning quite a large area and giving people a variety of real estate buying options on every corner.

Killarney is a beautiful neighbourhood at the most eastern end of East Vancouver. With around 30,000 residents who call Killarney home, this community sits on the south slope of the Fraser River in close proximity to Marpole, as well as Fraserview and the newly developed condo and townhouse haven known as River District.

Made up mostly of single-family homes, Killarney is part of the Champlain Heights community, which runs north along the Fraser River onto East 41st Avenue and Kingsway, extending from Boundary Road, with Vivian Drive on the west.

The community of Killarney offers a lot of green space, which is not common for a city dwelling space. But as one of the last areas in which to be developed in Vancouver, it still holds some great untouched land masses that locals and city-folk alike come to enjoy.

Everett Crowley Park can be found within the walls of Killarney, along Kerr Street and Marine Drive. It was once home to a waterfall, but has since been used as landfill. Regardless, it is a beautiful and spacious park to enjoy.

Killarney is truly a gem of a community well worth discovering, and I would love to show you around at the many developments and real estate options for singles and families alike in the area!
